Adelaide Living Artists

If there's one thing that can add some colour and interest in a room...besides from scatter cushions of course ;)...... it's Art work on the walls.

The last couple of years I've come across some wonderful local artists right here in Adelaide, South Australia. I really enjoy going on holidays or away for the weekend and checking out the local talent...you never know what you will come across and what treasures you will find.

A trip to Port Elliot brought me to a little shop called "Little Bird", this is where I was introduced to Eliza Piro. On the wall was a beautiful canvas of coloured hand painted leaves, a bird and nest. similar to the image below.

Eliza Piro grew up in South Australia's, Clare Valley and now lives in Adelaide with her family.

Influenced by the rich and colourful tapestries and textiles of India, Eliza’s paintings are bold, lively and beautiful. Predominantly about nature, Eliza’s paintings feature elephants, birds, fish, flowers and trees, comprising a vast array of vibrant colours and patterns.

This one is one of my favourites, its called "Exotic Birds", it is so colourful and will look amazing in any room where you would like to add colour without over doing it. You could pick up some colours in the canvas to add some accessories to your room to compliment the painting.

Emma Hack - Is another favourite Adelaide Artist, she specialises in canvas painting, body art, photography. Emma's works evoke a rich array of visual narrative and magical realism.

Emma specialises in body art where she paints a person in front of an image...like wall paper. Most of her images have real life animals in them, whilst the person she has painted disappears into the background. She is very talented and I love her work, her images create a big talking point.

Emma has been famous recently for her work she did for Gotye - Somebody that I use to know

The next image is amazing, a car crash made up of painted bodies

Home Fragrance

There is nothing better than walking into a home and smelling beautiful fragrances. It can transform you to a time or place and remind you of childhood memories.

Glasshouse fragrances come in triple scented candles, room diffusers, soaps, and hand creams.

The first Glasshouse candle I bought was approximately 6 years ago, from memory I got the Bora Bora - Cilantro and orange zest. The first time I burnt it, I was addicted.....the fragrance filled the house with a beautiful scent and everyone that visited always commented on how good my house smells. Fragrance candles and diffusers make a perfect gift for any occasion.

I am very sensitive to smells, and can find some fragrances sickening, I have never had a problem with any of the glass house products.

Glasshouse is Australian made and retails from $14.95 - $54.95

Orders can be made on line at www.glasshousefragrances.com

Circa Home scented soy wax candles create a beautiful ambient effect in any room, perfect for entertaining, relaxing in the bath or just enjoying some well deserved time in the comfort of your home.

A couple of years after I discovered Glasshouse products, I found Circa Home. Very similar to glasshouse but slightly cheaper and a more natural variety of fragrance.

To this day you will find a Vanilla Bean and Allspice somewhere in my house in either a scented candle or diffuser.....not a fragrance I would normally be drawn to, but I just cant get sick of this one. I find this fragrance suits any room in the house from kitchen to bedroom.

Circa Home Products are Australian Made and retail from $6.95 - $39.95

Orders can be made on line at www.circahome.com.au

Ecoya come in a different range of products, like glasshouse and circa home. They offer scented candles, room diffusers, melts, candles and a range of soaps and hand creams.

My favourite fragrance from this range is Sweet Pea and Jasmine, this fragrance is lovely in a bathroom or in the bedroom...not so much a kitchen and lounge room fragrance as you may find it a little sweet after awhile.

Ecoya is Australian made and retails from $19.95 - $59.95

Orders can be made on line at  www.ecoya.com

Addicted to scatter cushions

I am seriously addicted to scatter cushions, It can change the look and feel of a room with just a few different shades of colour, pattern and texture. At the moment I am loving the combination of white, yellow, black and grey's. I think this colour combination works well in the bedroom. I would like to see it in a beachside holiday home, just to get away from the typical blue and white themes generally seen in coastal properties.

I found this image on Pinterest, thanks to Focal Point Styling. I travelled to New York in September 2012 and was so inspired by the current trends. What an amazing place!! This room reminds me of walking down Fifth Avenue into all the designer shops, they were so luxurious, fun, and modern, I felt like a kid in a candy store :).  I really like how so many different cushions look so good together, mixing and matching tones, patterns and texture. I hope to go back to New York again soon, I never got to have my horse and carriage ride through Central Park.....sigh!!!!!

Another one of my favourites, the above photo is a classic example of how a stark white room can be brought all together with a subtle hint of lilac and green, in different patterns.
